Hello fellow traveler. Thanks for stopping by! If you have a question or looking to book me for a show, please send an email to candlestonemusicATgmail.com.
If you are a new visitor I just wanted to let you know a little bit about me...You can also read my music biography here
My name is Emaline Delapaix and I am a recently transplanted North Yorkshire based Australian singer songwriter who plays acoustic guitar, piano and a bit of celtic harp. After a very difficult period including depression and a break down in 2008/2009, I finally made the decision to pursue music full time and started teaching myself instruments after moving into a caravan in rural Germany to re-find myself. I performed my first show singing and playing guitar in late 2010 and that’s where the music story as a solo artist for me really begins.
I am 100% independent and create and record most of my music with my partner, guitarist and best friend Lukas Creswell-Rost
who is also a fantastic singer songwriter musician. I have little music booking agency called Candlestone Music who I work on with friends, organising shows for myself and other folky/country musicians around the world. I am also vegan with a real deep love of nature and until recently had an orange rescue kitty called Reece who passed away at 18 years old, that I rescued from Toronto in 2005…but most of the time I think he rescued me :). This year I decided I was ready to adopt another kitty and Scarborough street cat Nigel has recently come into my life. Over the years since leaving Australia I have lived in Toronto, Quebec, North Vancouver and a tiny beautiful island in British Columbia Canada, as well as London, rural eastern Germany, Berlin and now a village in North Yorkshire. I call myself a functioning depressive as have lived with depression in all its forms for so many years, but writing about my experiences and playing music really helps me. My music is a mixture of gentle, dreamy ballads, dark folk, witchy pop and traditional folk styles from Northern Europe. I am currently exploring and incorporating some Scottish Gaelic and Swedish Kulning into my set as well. Growing up I was very influenced by a lot of unique female musicians like Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Björk, Nina Simone, Julie Cruise, Melanie Safka, Ani Difranco, Dar Williams, Fiona Apple, Stina Nordenstam, Lisa Germano, Anja Garbarek. These days I am finding a lot of inspiration from traditional Scandinavian folk and well as modern singer songwriters such as Myrkur, Eivør, Nanna Barslev and Jenny Wilson. I'm also a huge fan of Richard Shindell and Neil/Tim Finn.
In 2021 I unfortunately had a reaction to my Covid vax and got very sick for 2 years so had to take time off from music. I struggled to walk, use my hands, had pain 24/7 and extreme fatigue. I was one of the lucky ones who was able to access a clinic set up for Post Vac / Long Covid patients in Germany and had a extensive testing. They confirmed I never had Covid and that my body had an auto immune reaction to the vax. As a result I now suffer from several new auto immune diseases that I am managing with medication and lifestyle changes including Wim Hof breathing/cold showers, Qi Gong, meditation, diet, herbal medicine and oxygen therapy. After a big break I started performing again in 2023 which I am very grateful for, and looking forward to performing a lot more in 2024!
If you managed to read all the way through this, I am impressed and very grateful you took the time. Thanks a lot. I hope you enjoy my music and exploring these pages.
Much Love
